Copying Compressed Files to CD

Trying to copy a game patch (a compressed/zipped file which I downloaded to my desktop from Internet) to a CD for use on another computer. I used the "copy files and folders to a CD" instructions to copy the file to a CD. The computer claimed to have copied the file and discharged the supposedly copied CD. But when I try to load the file from the CD to the other computer, it will not install. In fact, it shows up as "read only". I checked the file properties before copying to the CD, and the "read only" box is not checked on the file originally downloaded from the Internet. I also tried "extract all files" and got another desktop icon. But after loading it to the CD, it also shows up as "read only" and will not install. What am I failing to do? Thanks to anyone willing to help

All files on a CD are Read-Only.  Try this.   Move the file to the hard drive.  Change the attributes of the file, if required , when it is on the hard drive.  Execute the file from there.

Let me paraphrase what I think you are telling me....to make sure that I understand.

1. Update the game to be patched on the computer to which the patch was downloaded.

2. Try copying the complete updated game files from "C" drive on this computer to a CD.

3. Try to install the files from the CD onto the second computer....as if this were the game's install disk.

Does that sound right? Thanks very much.

- On computer "A" you downloaded a patch and executed it to update the game.

- Burn that patch on computer "A" to a CDR disk.

- Put the CDR disk with the patch into computer "B" and drag the patch onto
  the hard drive.

- Change the attributes of the patch on the hard drive computer "B" if required.

- Excecute the patch from the hard drive of computer "B" for the game on computer "B".

It worked like a charm. I'm impressed! Honest. Send me a bill....well, not really. But I do genuinely appreciate getting good advice and an "easy to implement" fix. Keep up the good work!
