You can delete the Primary IDE Controller in Device Manager and reboot, Windows should reinstall the driver and allow you to set the DMA.

That will usually correct a bad controller driver.

If that does not fixe it you may have to reinstall the chipset drivers from Dell

The XPS T model lacks any Dell supplied chipset driver and uses the standard drivers that come with Windows 98.

Well then . . let's not install it . . is there a way to extract it from the Win98 disc if the removing trick does not work?
