what video card do you have? I believe the nvidia drivers have a dvd decoder in them, so if you reinstall your dell video card drivers, that may fix your problem..... let us know :)
Not true. The video drivers do not contain the decoder software. If you have the cds that Dell sent you, you should have either Intervideo's WinDVD or PowerDVD. They are software decoders that should have come with your notebook if it came preinstalled with a DVD player. If you do not have them, you may call Dell and they may send you out a CD. If not, you can go to any store that sells software and buy the software decoder, usually very cheap with rebates/upgrade rebates. Personally, I would recommend PowerDVD. I am using PowerDVD 7 and it really rocks on my M140. Let me know if you have any further questions!
Not a problem, Godfrey. You would think that you can just download the decoder from the Dell website and your DVD player would be working again. Alas, it is a business and you have to pay for it one way or another. If he has all the restore cds that Dell used to send out, then reinstalling the decoder should be very easy and free. Otherwise, it will cost to buy the new software.
