DVD Drive does not work. It shows type as CD Drive

Hi I have a Dell Latitude D820 with me. Everything including the DVD was working fine. But suddenly I notice whenever I insert a DVD it shows the label as well as size on My Computer but when I double click on it nothing happens. I also noticed that the type is showing as CD Drive. I have done a System Restore to a previous checkpoint. Uninstalled and installed the driver. But still no help. Rahul

Rahul,
 
Reboot the system and press F12 when you see the prompt on the screen.  From the Menu choose the Dell Diagnostics and then run the Optical Drive test.  Put a DVD in the drive when you run the test.  If you receive an error message in the diagnostics, then the drive needs to be replaced.
