DVD+RW in Latitude D600

I recently purchased a Latitude D600 with a NEC DVD+RW (ND-6100A) and since I new to this was wondering what sort of rewritable media I need to order to work with this. Also, does the Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 basic that came with the computer support burning data DVD's? Thanks. - Ken

I have the same question. I bought a Latitude D400 used, with an external DVD+RW Drive module. The previous owner told me that it needs a certain kind of rewritable medium, but not another. Does anyone know which type of medium that is?

brindle18,

Thank you for using Dell's Community Forum.

If it is a drive that came with your system at the time of purchase, then most likely, it will take “+ media only.

Huh. That's what I thought. I went out there to the store and just bought the ones that have the same "RW" logo on them that my drive has. Now I am sad to find out that its not that easy to copy DVDs... Anyone need a 25 pack of 4.7GB blank DVDs? I'll pay for delivery.

I did find out from the tech rep I bought my laptop from that if you have the CD Creator 5 BASIC that comes with the drive you won't be able to burn DVDs. He told me you need to upgrade to the platinum version. - Ken
