DVD drive
I have an inspiron 1545 with cyberlink power dvd. My player quit working last week and I have tried to reinstall it but can't do it when it doesn't recognize it. Any suggestions would be helpful.

My computer does not recognize my dvd /cd player and will not play or able to reinstall applications installed on computer. I am running windows 7. Have optiarc 7580s drive.

If it is an internal drive, the drivers are built into Windows 7.
If it is an external drive, you will need driver for it which I would suggest downloading on another PC to a USB flash drive and bring to this PC.

It is built in but nothing is working to get it to run.

I get this message. A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32). I installed a new dvd drive and get the same thing.

Have you considered the possibility that the DVD went bad?
Unless of course, there is something important you are not telling us like there was a Windows 10 update or something.

I got a new dvd drive and i get the same message with it I had with the one that came with laptop.Windows 10 has never been on this laptop. DVD drive does not run at all.

Uninstall the drive completely in Device Manager.
Reboot.
And let Windows find the right driver to use.

I have all ready done that more than once and it keeps updating and says the best driver is in it but will not do anything. I have tried to restore systems and it only takes me back about a week. and won't restore.
