Dell Dimension 8300 Hard Drive replacement compatibility
Hi
I'm helping a friend replace a failing drive in their Dell Dimension 8300, speccy shows the current drive as: 78GB IC35L090AVV207-0 (PATA)
Would the following drive be compatible:
Western Digital Caviar WD800JB 80GB Parallel ATA PATA
Hope someone can help

Thanks for the prompt reply, sorry to sound thick, but how do you set the drive jumper to cable?

Hi Chris,
Yes, that will work fine! The only thing you need to remember is to set the drive jumper to cable select before you install it.

The jumper pins are on the hard drive, next to the power connector and the various settings to use, should be listed on the label attached to the hard drive.
Cable Select, is usually noted as CS, or CSEL.
