Sounds as if the hard drive has failed and should be replaced, if under warranty contact Dell.
You could try running Dell diagnostics. Reboot the computer, when the Dell logo appears, press F12, a boot device list, highlight the "Boot to Utility" partition and press "Enter".

Thanx for getting back !!

You think that the drive might fail and should be repalced. Do you know what might be the cause of that happening. I hardly use the computer at all. In addition, what is the dell diagnostics going do to my compuer. Please let me know. At this point, I don't know what to do.

thanx

Check the four diagnostic lights on the back of your system. Also, run the 90-90 hard drive diagnostics:

Reboot your computer. At the Dell blue logo screen, press the Ctrl + Alt + D keys at the same time. The computer beeps once to acknowledge that the hard drive diagnostics have been initiated. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Running the diagnostics does nothing to your computer, they check the system out for any failing/failed hardware.

HI Osprey4

thanx for getting back to me. I did rebot by pressing the power button many times and try to restart but unfortunately couldn't get into the window. It just appear with that message that i wrote earlier. Also, there were beeps once the window starts. I didn't ntoice the beeps/tickings sounds before. The beeps sounds were consistent. Do you think the comptuer needs a hard drive replacement?? I am confused at this point.

please let me know if you can
thanx

You do not need to get into Windows to run the hard drive diagnostic. Please follow Bev's suggestion.

The keyboard combination is CTRL-ALT-D. The letter D, not the DEL key. If you get a keyboard error, it might be from holding the keys down. Try tapping them. Yes, it's a bit tricky.
