Downloaded USB Memory Key Driver for Windows 98 is Not Recognized

I just purchased a Dell USB Memory Key 128MB.  It works perfectly with my new Dell 8300 Windows XP system.  I downloaded the driver from www.memorykeytools.com for using the Memory Key with Windows 98 and followed the download instructions precisely.  The Add New Hardware Wizard in Windows 98 indicates that "Windows was unable to locate a driver for this device" even when pointing directly to the unzipped memory key driver location.

Is a driver for Windows 98 available for the Dell USB Memory Key 128MB?

Same problem here with the 64 MB version and Windows 98.  In fact, the main reason I got the memory key was to move files off my older computer onto my new Dell.  I called Dell last night, talked to three different people who didn't have any idea what to do, then they gave me the number for another department, which is always a busy signal.  I hope someone can provide a solution.

I had the same troubles as the other posters. I used your suggestion and had smooth success. Thank you very much for posting the link. (If only Dell would provide simple support links like this!)

Same problem here.  Couldn't get the driver to work from memorykeytools' download.  Spent over an hour on the phone with Dell technician and was refer to Lexar, supposedly the maker of the memory key.  Gone back and forth with Lexar's technician and is of no help either.  Thanks for the help.  This worked great.  If any of the Dell technician is reading this reply you guys should update this in your knowledge base.

I've got Dell's 128MB usb mem key....tried the driver..it didn't work for me unfortunately. I use the same usb port for my broadband modem connection. Don't know whether thats the prob!  Once I plug it into my new 510m laptop, it works ok. Still trying to figure out what the problem is after 3hrs or so...

Thank you from across the pond. 3 hours of trying the Dell technical helpline official way of getting the driver just didn't work. Into Google, came up with your driver and straight in. Thank you old chap.

I have the same need. I need to find the Memory Key Driver for Windows 98 to transfer my information from my old computer to my new Windows XP computer. How do I do it?

Thanks,

I bought a Dell 64MB Key, and it doesn't work on my IBM laptop. Running XP, it's supposed to install without a hitch, but that's not the case, XP reports that the driver can't be found.  Can't find a solution, so it's going back to Dell.

I used your link and was able to get the download, but what do I look for when I want to save something to my memory key.  (I have a 64MB key from Dell and had the same problem as the others did with the other link)

Put the memory key in any one of the USB port and open up MyComputer icon on your desk top.  You will see an additional removable drive icon showing in that window.  If you see that new Icon, that means your windwo98 have successfully recognize the memory key and you can save your file to the memory key just like saving it to a floppy.  Good luck.

I'm on the phone with Dell right now, the 3rd person so far.  Anyway, I downloaded the driver that was suggested that several people said worked great.  Then I was able to save a Word 2000 document on it from my Windows 98 computer.  I also saved a Word 2003 document on it from my Dell computer with Windows XP.  But now when I open the memory key file on either computer I can only see those documents that I saved from that computer.  Is it me, my software, or my memory key?
