The thing that started this problem was that I ran the Dell PC Checkup and it failed the Targeted Read Test, this is what promted the diagnostics run, I also noticed that when I tried to defeg the drive it was still running after 8 hours whereas it usually only takes about an hour or so as I run it every week, does that give you more info regarding your answer?

Yes, I'm afraid you need to replace the hard drive.

The original reply is correct - the drive has developed bad sectors and will need to be replaced.
