Error Code 0F00:0248

Question

Hi,   I have a Dimension 2400 and get this error code when running the doagnostics off od the CD drive.  The diagnostic lights on the back are Green Green Green Yellow.  I am assuming my hard drive is in distress - is there anything I can do to save it and/or retrieve files from it?   Thanks,   Janet

What piece of hardware is it testing when that error comes up? The lights you mentioned just say Other as far as the cause of them in the manual. If it's testing your hard drive when that error comes up I would definitely say you should replace it. As far as saving the files from it that really depends on your current situation. Are you still able to get into windows? If not have you tried safe mode (f8 on startup)?

Yes, testing the hard drive.  Tried F8 and keep getting the F1 F2 message over and over

It doesn't look like you'll be able to get the data off yourself in that case, I would contact a data recovery place like drivesavers or maybe a computer shop that does that.
