Error code 0148

Hi all

Am getting the follow error message when trying to boot up dell xps 435 (i think!) machine. Currently running win 7 ultimate which has been running fine - machine went down over night. Dignostics come up with the following message:

Error Code: 0148

Error code 2000-148

Hard / optical drive 0 - incorrect staus : 1a error

Sense information:(02-0401)

Sense data: 70h 00h 02h 00h 00h 00h 00h 0ah 00h 00h 00h 00h 04h 01h 00h 00h 00h 00h

Have manged to boot from wind cd dvd and am currently attempting startup reapir (running for about half hour now!) and ideas or help would be great.
