since the articles I listed before still gave you errors in Device Manager, you may need to reinstall the Chipset drivers but I would still like to know the name/model of the drive in question. Dell may have a firmware update or known issues we have seen in the past.
Best Regards!

Dell does have a firmware update, it has helped some but unfortunatley not all. Samsung 616E
You may wish to give it a try.

I believe this is a problem with the disc you had in the drive during the diagnostic (or possibly a lack of disc). You need to have a regular CD-ROM disc in the drive, such as a game disc, in order to run this.
If you want to run the firmward update, the download page has instructions. Follow those.
From past experiences with this drive and the steps you have tried, including the error message; I dare say the drive needs replacing. If you are under warranty, please contact Dell, reference this thread to the Dell Tech for his/her review. I believe the Tech will recommend replacing the drive.
Best Regards

Hi Jea,
Sorry, I replied to your previous post and did not see this one. I ran a quick Google search and found three hits, two here at Dell. Unfortunately the one I could access said they had to reinstall the OS.
