Event ID 51 errors
I have a four month old XPS 600 that just started getting these errors in event viewer:
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: Disk
Event Category: None
Event ID: 51
Date: 6/14/2006
Time: 10:29:08 PM
User: N/A
Computer: MELE
Description:
An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk0\D during a paging operation.
I am not using RAID. Is this a serious problem or not? I am reading an extremely long thread at hardwareanalysis.com on this problem. It appears to be widespread and have various causes. I see from the nVidia boards that many have fixed it by disabling NCQ. I do have the latest nVidia drivers for NForce4 and for the video card. I have read that buying a new hard drive doesn't help but a new controller that is not onboard fixes it sometimes. I am not experiencing slow downs or stop errors. Anyhow, what is the advice here for XPS's with this problem? I have not yet run check disk or Dell diag.
