hi not sure if this is the right place or not  but here goes

i have a dell inspiron 1525 vista home basic  less than 1 year old

my harddrive is 80 GB but shows 75.4GB

now the missing GB'S is the dell Factory Restore point

after reading this forum  i have gone to safe mode  to restore  but i dont have the option there to restore it

back to  the Factory Restore

is there any other way i can restore it back to the day i got it ??

i have  formatted a few times  but i have used the dell disc that come with the laptop

also have gone from 1gb ram to 4gb

It sounds like you've deleted it.  If you're seeing 74.5 G on your C: partition, it's gone.

Remember that the 80G drive is quoted in decimal, while Windows counts in binary.

That is, an 80 decimal gig drive will show up as 80 * (10^9/2^30) in binary, or the 74.5 binary gigs you're seeing - nothing is missing.

so does this mean i dont have the  dell recovery  or factory restore on my hard drive ?

as there is no option for it  in safe mode (repair your pc)
