Firmware Update Sony DW-D56A CD/DVD+-RAM Drive

Hi forum!

Got a little problem, I need a firmware update for my SONY DVD-RAM drive DW-D56A (Original part of my DELL Inspiron 8600) but i can't find it anywhere, neither in the DELL databases nor on the Sony website (login with Sony Vaio serial number required)

I need this firmware to be able to burn Phillips DVD-R 8x discs at 8x speed.

For more information visit: http://www.dvdhs.com (DVD-R highspeed consortium)

Does anybody know where to download or order this firmware?
(I already tried the PDS3 LiteOn firmware, it worked perfect but it didn't solve my problem)

Thanxx

May not help, but have you tried the PS01 ?

I used this software for the flash : http://upload.cdfreaks.com/ftools/firmware.exe
and used the firmware from here : http://dhc014.rpc1.org/indexOEM.htm#SOSW-852S

DO NOT FORGET TO BACKUP your firmware first!

Also, the drive will show up in the explorer window as a "CD" drive, ignore it...

Hope this helps...
