Getting BSOD after installing a SSD
I was able to successfully install an SSD on my XPS 8100. But when I connect a HDD (which has all my data in it), my computer keeps crashing. If I go back to my old HDD for booting with my data HDD connected, everything works fine. Any ideas what I could do to fix the problem?

Hi Bobindsamuel,
I also have an XPS 8100 with a new SSD and my old HDD as a data drive. My system is not exhibiting this behavior. So explain to me what you mean by crashing. Are you getting any blue screen errors?

And the error is....what?
Also please tell me how you loaded the OS onto the SSD. Clean install?

Yes, I am getting the blue screen of death (BSOD) after logging into my account (I am able to get that far). I can connect back my old boot HDD and everything works fine. The SSD and HDD do not work together.

You mean the error on the blue text screen? It goes by very quickly and I am not able to read what it says. Then my computer goes into a loop of trying to boot up and crashing.
I did do a clean install of the OS directly on to the SSD (which I formatted ahead of time). IT all works great when I do not plug in the HDD.
Any ideas? My BIOS version is A13 if that helps.

You need to turn off automatic restart in order to see the error.
