Gsense Error Rate S.M.A.R.T. Attribrute

Question

I have a new Dell Inspiron N4010 laptop with a western digital WD5000BEVT hard drive. The laptop is only 4 months old. I routinely use software to read the smart attributes. I use both the western digital diagnostic software and speedfan. Both the western digital and speedfan software have a value of 1 for the attribute gsense error rate, but from what I understand, this value should be in the range of 35 - 100. The hard drive still passes the western digital smart test. Speedfan also lists a raw value of 1,900 and tells me I need to watch this attribute. I don't understand why the gsense error rate attribute value is so low (1) and why does the raw value keep increasing on speedfan, especially since it is only 4 months old. I handle this laptop gently all the time. I have no other smart attribute errors. Any advice or opinions?

Hi Shortfuse59, I was under the impression that Speedfan monitors temperature. Do you maintain back-ups of your important files?

Speedfan also analyzes smart attribute data and yes I maintain back-ups.  I still need some opinions on my original post.

Gsense error rate is the count of errors resulting from externally-induced shock & vibration.

The lower the Gsense error rate the better.

Well the raw value for speed fan would increase as the temp of the HDD increases. So my guess would be the more you keep your laptop swithced on the more the raw value of the speed fan.

Why would the temperature of the hdd cause the gsense error rate raw value to increase.   It would be the speed fan, gsense rate isnt related to temp of the HDD.
