HDD + mSATA
I ordered an M17X with 500 GB 7200rpm HDD + 32 GB mSATA. Now, I saw 490 (450) GB free space, Possible that the Recovery is on the mSATA ssd?

The recovery partition is on the hard drive - not the solid state drive.
A 500G drive is specified as decimal capacity - to Windows it'll appear as a 465 G drive. There is a partition of about 40 MBytes for the Dell diagnostics and a 15G restore partition, so you see 465 - 15 or 450G remaining.
The SSD has an 8G hibernation partition - the rest is used as a cache for the main hard drive.

You can use it as you wish, but by default it's a cache for the main hard drive.
