If you haven't done so, run the Dell diagnostics on the drives -- if one is faulty, that may be the problem. F12 at powerup.
If you require further assistance, please post any errors from the diagnostics, the system model (i.e., Inspiron N7110, etc) and the version of Windows you're running.
