Hard Drive Normal temperature???

what is the hard drive normal temperature?

And what is the temperature for the hard drive running Microsoft's Disk Defragmenter?

a nomral HD temperature is between 30C and 45C

You probably wamt to go to the manufacturer's website and look up the specs. I have two SATA HDDs and the normal operating temperature for both is approx 5-55C according to the sites. The newer generation (7200 RPMs plus) do run a lot hotter.

I would probably try and keep the temp around no more than about 45C if I were you, but the lower the better. The 40GB WD HDD that Dell installed was running at around 55C without a cooler, and my 160GB Seagate was running at 59C (which according to the Seagate site was OK). This was way too hot as far as I was concerned, so I added HDD coolers to my 4700 and now the temps are 38C and 43C, respectively.
