Hard Drive Restore & Data Recovery
Hard Drive Crash - The Error may have been caused by a Power Failure while the Windows Operating
System was writing a partition.
- Unable to complete booting.
- Looped into “Safe Mode / Last Set-up Screen”. Can’t break out of loop.
- Able to access F12 BIOS set-up and attempt to see if changes to setup would help.Dell Owner’s Manual page 105 Standard Settings.
- Run Dell Diagnostics, Hardware passes all diagnostics. Also Diagnostic Lights at rear of the Tower are green & clean.
- Try Windows XP Reinstallation CD. Installation of all drivers ok. Remains stuck when examining hard drive “Examining 11440MB Disk 0 at Id0 on buss 0 on atapi”
- Believe that it is the MBR Master Boot Record path damage. System could not start up – unable to see hard drive.
Purchase new hard drive from Dell.
Reconditioned internal 160 GB HD .
Major Concern is to try and Recover Data on the damaged or just inaccessible 120 GB original hard drive.
Photos, music, school work, contacts, & other data files.
Restore the Computer
While waiting for the hard drive from Dell….. (Restore computer with a small HD { C:} and try to
Access the bad HD { F:} to repair.)

F: \ is not Accessible. The Parameter is Incorrect.
Device Status: “This device is working properly.”
Disk management
See both HD’s. They are On Line and Healthy.
2. Try to find Windows Recovery Console and work with DOS commands …no luck getting to Recovery Console.
Recovery Data Programs
Open or look into the F: Drive.
1. PC Inspector File Recovery
2. Pareto Logic Data Recovery
Seeing most files and they are listed as recoverable.
