Hardware issue possibly or other?

Hello, I have a Dell 8200, recently we put a new hard-drive in, nothing on it, zippo.  I turned it on and the orange light is blinking on the tower, I also dont here any motors or fans running, no lights are on in the back of the tower in regards to other possibilities.  Not sure what do do, considered taking out the motherboard putting it back and and even so maybe the sound card.  Truly? I am doing this myself so I dont know what to yank and pull on, he-he, ya in a jam here.

Did you try disconnecting the new HD? You have some sort of power problem.

Also check to make sure you did not knock any other cable off during the install.

Hi Peter, thanks for the reply.  Well, its a brand new hardrive installed.  I opened it up tonight, tightened any loose ends, which seem to be none no-where, I even took the graphic card out and put it back in just in case, checked every nook and cranny, and tried it again, nothing.  I am thinking mabye it is the power supply box or mother board.  If I can get a new power supply box and my money returned if it doesnt work I check that out.  I dont want to buy that device to try and go trough and check everything for power, it will work or it wont.  If it doesnt work, then maybe its the motherboard.  Bummer.

Did you try disconnecting the HD? When you change something and a problem starts, that is the first place to look.

The fact that the HD is brand new doesn't mean it isn't the problem. People have problems with brand new equipment all the time.

HI Peter, no I did not, and that is something I need to do.  I put the system back downstairs as my husband found in the bargain box a Pentuim 4 processoer, 512 MB of ram and 3.00 GHZ, it has XP on it and appears to be looking mighty find, a CPA sold it as he was updating.  Now it has a Optiplex 210L on the CD rome addition, dont know what that is...or anything of it, dont know if it came with the machine he originally purchased or if he added that.  I am to find out what that is.  Ok Well at least I have that back-up but need to find out that issue.
