Help!!......Blank Screen after hard drive worm

Hi. My computer has a worm, the "sasser". I have a primary dell 80 gig hard drive and a slave Seagate 250 gig. I took my pc to work where I found out that my problem was indeed the worm. An IT tech at work put my hard drive  in their system and tried to clean the worm, but had to leave for the day. The virus scan finished but froze at the end. So I closed the windows on the scrren, "x-d" out the window showing my C drive, and put it back into my pc and took it home along with directions on how to clean the sasser virus. When I plug my computer in and turn it on, I can hear the hard drive spin up but the computer monitor stays blank.  I have gone online with a laptop and verified the jumper settings. I'm confident I can fix the problem once I cen get my computer to boot, but don't know how to proceed.  I have tried tapping F8 on startup with no luck, I would GREATLY appreciate any and all suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Matt:

A couple things to check. I suspect the tech may have switched the jumper setting, so pull the drive out and make sure it's set to cable select. If that looks ok, check the four diagnostic lights on the back.

When you post back, please mention your system model.

Also, all 4 indicator lights are green. Thanks.

Sorry. It's a Dell Dimension 2400.

Osprey, thanks for responding! I have the jumper set to the middle pins. It's a 10 pin Western Digital WD800 caviar, enhanced IDE drive. I looked on the back of the computer and all 4 lights marked a, b, c, and d are lit. I tried the hard drive both on cable select and master settings but no luck. Do you have any other suggestions? I really appreciate it.

I tried....no dice. I disconnected the slave and tried again...nothing seems to work. I don't have the original drive cable, just the dual so I don't know if that's why it won't work individually but I've tried virtually every single jumper combination both with one and both drives installed and nothing works. Unfortunately, I don't have the disc either. Just some dell support disks that dont run when I put them in. If I could somehow get to a setup or bios screen I think I'd be fine. Ive tried f8, f2, delete, f12, nothing works. :(

Dell systems use cable select, so that's where you should always start. I presume the "middle pins" means cable select?

I'd pull the other drive out for the moment. Make sure you boot to system setup and reconfigure the drive setup appropriately. Do you have your XP disc handy? You could try booting to that.

No, unfortunately I don't. I can't find any xp discs, just the old Dell support discs. I tried to put all of them in but nothing comes up on the screen. The discs just spin for a second then stop. I don't have a floppy drive.

Do you have any bootable disc or floppy?
