Help!!! CD Tray will not close fully, it will eject but not close all the way.

Help!!! I opened my CD-ROM drive to insert a CD, however when I pushed the close button, it did not close fully and is somehow hammed.  The tray will not close fully, it will eject but not close all the way.  How can I fix this without replacing the drive?

Hi AAkim,

Click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 6-5, article 14.
Sometimes the use of the emergency eject button can help restore, re-align the tray. If not, then you may need to replace the drive as you mentioned.

Best Regards

If you insert a paper clip into the little hole next to the eject button, you can manually open the disk drive. If you keep pushing with the paper clip while simulataneously hitting the actual eject button, it may realign and work properly. Fluke chance, but hey, it got me out of my bind.
