Help! dvd decoder for window 2000

I have a Inspiron 8000 from work that was upgraded to Windows 2000 Professional.  The system played dvd movies prior to the upgrade.  Now when I put a movie in it displays a message that I don't have the correct decoder.  I can't seem to find where to get this software download on Dell's site.  Could someone please tell me how to get the dvd decoder so my player will work again.  I don't have access to the internet on my laptop but I was hoping I could download the software/upgrade to my desktop and transfer via burning a cd to my laptop.  I am leaving for Vegas tomorrow  and would really like to watch a movie on my system during the flight.  Please help.  Thanks in advance.

Visit your DVD Decoder publishers Web Site and see if there is an update for Windows 2000.
If not, then you will need top purchase a DVD Decoder.  You can find OEM versions for
about $10 at Software Outlet sites.  DVD Decoders are not free.

I am not from the PC world, I use Macs. Your advice was helpful but how do I find out who my dvd decoder's publisher is? What do I ask for if I go to a software outlet website? Thanks again.

It is 99% likely that you had WinDVD or PowerDVD.  Their Web Sites are here ...............

Each has a trial version of their newest decoder to try.  That may help you out
on you flight.

This site http://www.softwareoutlet.com/ has the following OEM versions to consider ........
