How can I burn a CD?

I have a CD-ROM Drive, 48X and would like to burn a CD from a friend's CD, how do I do it? Simple steps would really help.

I know that my Lower drive is the CDRW and would appreciate just knowing where to place the Blank CD?

Thanks,

Ira

Hi Ira,

What burning software is installed in your system?  Usually it is ROXIO Easy CD Creator 5 Basic.
If so, see here for Step-by-Step instructions ........

http://support.ap.dell.com/docs/software/roxio5/en/index.htm

If you need easier instructions, see here ..........

If you want to copy the CD, use " Copying Discs Using CD Copier".  If you want to copy selections,
use "Making Music CDs Using Easy CD Creator".

Skybird,

It worked and I thank you so very much, sometimes I am totally surprised at how simple it is to do ordinary functions but if I had the same information that you have provided, it really would have been easy,

By the way, I have 2 drives, the lower one is marked, I think for CD-RW Drive. which one is used to place the original CD and where do you place the Blank?

Glad to have supplied help for you.

If you have two CD Drives and the lower one is marked as CD-RW, then that is your burner drive.
That is the drive you will put the blank CD.

Since you have two drives you have a number of options available to you when you burn CDs.

1. You can put the original disk in the top (CD-ROM) drive and the blank in the lower (CD-RW).

2. You can use only the lower (CD-RW) drive and swap disks when prompted.

3. You can create an image on the Hard Drive then burn the image onto the CD in the lower (CD-RW) drive.

As you gain more experience, the three ways will become apparent including the pros and cons of
each.  Begin with what is comfortable and what works for you.
