I am not positive that the basic Direct CD will support recordable DVDs… but to write directly to a CD, you have to prepare the disc by formatting it with Direct CD… then you are able to write files directly to the disc like it was a floppy disk… you may want to be aware that many people don’t trust writing to disc in this manner and prefer to instead create CDs using a data project through software like EZ CD Creator or Nero instead of drag and drop… it may be slightly less convenient but is more reliable…

Thewards: Would have been a great help if you included the Version number of ECD… In any case you need to update it to 5.3.5.10 Basic . Then DVD will be supported.

Evil is correct in that if you pack that much data via packet writing (DCD) you are putting a lot at risk! What do you call a backup when suddenly it reports unreadable?

It would be better to use ECD and create a Data DVD. Since DVD’s cannot be closed they revert to Sessions automatically. You can add more sessions as time goes on, making sure you import the previous session(s) as you do. Look through the Help files.
