How to change the Windows XP CD burner so that it stops closing a disc session automatically

I had to reinstall Windows XP Home Edition OS on my Dell Dimension 4550 and now the CD burner automatically closes making it a single use session. I need to change the burner so that I may add data to a single CD until its full. If anyone knows how to change this please let me know. I used Dells Resource CD to reinstall everything. Im assuming its part of the Windows XP program. Thank you

Hi Gerard,

For the built-in Windows XP CD burning utility, multi-session is the default for data CDs. For audio, there is no such thing as multi-session. All audio CDs must be written DAO (disc at once).

Dell also supplied a CD and DVD burning application called Sonic RecordNow. If you are using that, you need to specify single- or multi-session.

There are two freeware utilities that can do multisession, ImgBurn and CDBurnerXP. Google them for more information.
