IDE to SATA converter

Hi, I have tried to find the answer to my question for quite some time now, and I'm sure it's been asked a thousand times before, but I can't find it.

I have just bought the Dimension 8400 system with a SATA hard drive. I now want to install my old IDE drive, but I already have two optic drives installed so I don't have room for one more IDE unit (if I have understood it correctly). I therefore bought a "Serial-ATA to Ultra 133 Converter Board" (SI-0718SA) which was supposed to enable me to use my old disc as a SATA disc.

My problem is that my IDE disc can't be found by my BIOS. I have activated att the SATA ports (if that is what they are called). What shall I do? Do you think it has to do with the jumpers?

Hi badly_drawn, have a look at  www.promise.com  ,I use a PCI Ultra IDE Controller with my old hard drive and it works fine.

Hope this helps?
