IDE vs Serial ATA....help a noob...
Hello all. My Dimension 4400 used IDE hard drives. So when I got my new 8400 I thought I could use them. Nope. It has a serial ATA drive. Being new to this stuff, I have no idea what the difference is. I do know there is no IDE connector on the 8400 motherboard that I can see. Does ATA have any specific advantages over IDE? It's not like I have much of a choice in the matter, just kinda frustrated in all the money I dropped on large drives for my older system. Thanks for input!

coldspyder_13,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
Check the information at the following site as it does show that the system that you have does have 1 IDE controller connection that can support 2 drives.
