Inspiron 5000e Hard Drive

Can someone recommend to me where I can get a bigger hard drive for my notebook Inspiron 5000e? I only have a 5mb HDD and it is getting full and since Dell does not make this notebook anymore I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions to replace this HDD with a bigger one on my notebook?

Dear Dmzauk,

There are many hard drives that will work in your 5000e, I am sending this to you from that model right now and has a 5400rpm 30gig HD in it.

I have been told Hitatchi makes a good one, but IBM travel star and several others, it is a matter of how big (size) and how much (cost).

Here are a couple links for you.
http://www.newegg.com/app/searchProductResult.asp?Submit=Go&Range=1&DEPA=1&bop=and&description=notebook+hard+drives&InnerCata=380

Remember, it's physical size (shape) can be determined by looking it up on Dell then purchase one you like from one of the previous links or anywhere you can find that sells them.

I prefer ordering from NewEgg, as they are good to work with, and generally purchases from reputable online sales companies is cheaper.

Hope this helps.

Again a good point about the Hitachi, but I doubt in a good laptop, with a decent processor and some ram, 128 meg or so that you will see enough difference from the 5000 rpm HD to the 7000 rpm HD, for the difference in cost that is.

I have a 5000e with a 850 CPU, and a little over 300 megs of ram, and I could not tell enough difference. (used a friends HD for grins, just to see).

Good luck

I have an Inspiron 8000 with 512MB ram with a PIII 800.  I put a 7K60 in and I saw a HUGE difference in the speed of the computer.
