Inspiron 5100 and error code 0f00:0244
I have inspiron 5100. I bought it in january 2004. I have few problems, computer is very slow, and besides that it has some sort of hardware problem. I tested it using diagnostics software and got this:
error code: 0f00:0244
msg. block 237759:uncorrectable data error or media is write protected.
It seems that I have hdd problem. Do I have to replace it?

The highest performer will be a Hitachi 7k100 100GB 7200 rpm drive but it is presently only available to the large OEMs like Dell.
