Hello, so I have a ASUS laptop with only one drive slot and I am going to by a brand new Hard Drive and a new copy of Windows 10 for the operating system. So I was wondering how do you go about installing a drive? Do you just unplug the old one and plugin the new one; or is it more complicated than that? Could anyone tell me how I could install my new hard drive so it will be ready to install windows OS on it, when I go to the store and buy it?

Basically that is correct, but as you have an Asus laptop, any further questions should be addressed to Asus Technical Support Here:
If your ASUS laptop came with Windows 7 OEM or Windows 8.1 OEM you can directly clean install Windows 10 TH2 as a free upgrade... Its available as an Insider preview but will be on the maintrack in a few weeks likely:
Instructions to dismantle your system to replace the HDD differ from model to model. Without knowing your full model of ASUS laptop its impossible to instruct you on replacing the HDD.
P.S. get a SSD and not a HDD for optimum performance. Run the Crucial upgrade advisor for compatible SSDs. The system scanner should report your full model number:
