Internal USB SD card reader issue

Question

After a malware problem I installed a brand new Hitachi SATA drive and a brand new install of Windows 7 Professional.PC = Dell Inspiron 580If the PC boots up to Windows at all, When I get to Disk Management to view disks nothing shows up, not even my C: drive or my external hard drive: It just keeps saying 'Connecting to virtual Disk Service...'. Device Manager also shows warnings on 'WPD...' .There is also a slow response in Explorer.The answer given by Microsoft in December 2009 does not work for me; neither does the link answer given - not surprising as it refers to Windows Server 2008.I then had an idea that this might relate to the internal card reader hub that I have connected to USB socket on the motherboard.So I disconnected it. Boot up was perfect and fast and no errors anywhere. So I left it unplugged for a few days while I got the PC to a working state  with Windows 7 updates, etc. etc.Then I plugged in the internal card reader while the PC was running (probably against Dell recommendation) - the device was recognised by Device Manager,  Explorer and Disk Management but it did not read memory cards. On rebooting I was back to the failure situation above. So the device is still unconnected!If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. If only to point me to drivers it might be a start.

Hi MikeyGB123, You've got all the drivers installed? You should try booting to the F12 partition and running the diagnostics on your card reader.
