Local Disk (E:) showing in My Computer

Recently I have the Local E hard drive entry showing in the My Computer window.  Prior to this showing, all that ever showed was Local Disk (C:) and my A drive and CD rom drive designation.

Any ideas what may have caused this E designation to be added to the My Computer display?

I am running Windows XP Home addition and have free space of 85 GB's on my root drive.

Thank you.

What size is the drive? How much space?

Check XP's "Disk Management" for the size of the E: drive.

The drive is 39 mb, with 32.3 mb free space.

This seems to be the Dell hidden diagnostic partition, therefore the following post may apply

Bev,

Thank you. I read the related message that you referenced and I will check the Roxio site.

I did install the Roxio CD Creator 6 and that's when I noticed the new Local E drive appearing.

Thanks again.

That certainly seems to be the cause, this has been an ongoing problem and I've not read of a upgrade for it.  Dell support is aware of this and supposedly was working on a fix.

Good luck.
