Memorex DVD+RW Doesn't Work? Help Please!

Hi, I'm new to the boards. I am frustrated this morning so thought I would ask for some expert advice.  I installed a Actiontec 1394 Firewire this morning, copied movies from my Digital Sony Camcorder onto my hardrive of my computer - now I can't get it onto a DVD DISC - what am I doing wrong? I'm using the above disc and it continues to ask for a CD to be installed.

The HL-DT-ST DVD-Rom GDR8163B dive is a read only device.  It
is not a DVD burner and will not write to DVD or CD media.

Specs here ........

One more question since I can' t reach the tech who is partying in Vegas :smileyvery-happy:

Samsung cd-r/rw sw-252s

This is what is listed under the CD drive, did the tech not put a DVD burner because the Dell Website shows the 8400Series coming with a burner at no extra charge?

Now I'm perplexed - what else is new?

Thanks,

Well that might explain it! My DH ordered this computer from a computer tech at work and was told it came with a Read/Write DVD/CD drive, of course, tech is out of town... so I can't confirm anything.
Don't the 8400s come with recordable DVD drives?
Thanks for your help...

A Samsung SW-252S is a CDRW drive.  It will read and write CDR
and CDRW media.  It will not read or write DVD media.

DELL continuously changes what they offer as an incentive to
purchasing a machine.  One week it is a free DVD burner, then
the next week a free LCD monitor, and another week it is free
memory or a rebate, etc.
