New HDD?

I ordered a Inspiron 9100, and i got the 4200rpm hdd, this has caused many problems while playing some games, i was wondering if there was a site(dell even) that i could buy a 7200 rpm HDD from that would take the place of my current one. I tried searching dells site for hard drives to buy and i cant find anything.......? Any information would be great. Thx

Here are a couple of sites that sell 7200rpm 60gb hard drives that will work.  Try a Google or Yahoo search for more dealers.  Try to find one that is selling a "retail" model with the full factory warranty.

So this will replace the one I currently have in there?

That is correct.  All you have to do is remove the hard drive caddy, then remove your old drive from the caddy, remove the connection adapter.  Place the connection adapter onto the new drive, install the new drive into the caddy then replace the caddy into the computer.

The tough job is to get any data you want to save onto the new hard drive.  If you don't mind spending another few dollars purchase a "second drive enclosure" from Dell for about $40.00 plus shipping or $50 to $60 on eBay then use one of the many drive copy utilities.  My favorite is CasperXP (http://www.fssdev.com/products/casperxp/).   I put the new drive into the second enclosure, replaced the optical drive with the second drive, booted normally then used CasperXP to copy the old drive to the new drive.  Then I swapped the drives so the new one was the normal boot drive.  I also purchased an external D-Bay adapter ($40 from Dell) so I could access both drive and the optical drive when necessary.

I normally configure my system with two hard drives internally and the optical drive in the external DBay when I need it.
