No drives installed when installing Windows XP

I am trying to install Windows XP on a Dell Precision WorkStation 530 and getting an error message that there are no drives installed.  Several threads on the Message Board about this issue remain unanswered, but I still need help.  Under downloads I have tried the non-RAID, the RAID and the PERC drivers and none of them work.  Could someone explain the process to get Windows XP setup to recognize the SCSI drives and the exact order to load drivers if more then one is required.  PLEASE!

Step One: Identify your SCSI Host adapter.  Fairly simple since it will always pop up a text header as it loads it's own BIOS just after the "Dell" startup screen screen.

Step Two: Enter the SCSI Utility and ensure that your drive(s) are being recognized on the hardware level by the SCSI Host adapter.  If not you may have to adjust jumpers on the drives to ensure the proper ID assignment or set the SCSI Adapter to the proper sync rates or both to actualls "see" the drives.

Step Three: Using the proper SCSI driver (ensured by proper identification of your hardware) be sure to toggle the key when prompted during Windows XP setup and loading your third party SCSI driver.

If you still have probelms, make sure that you have alleviated all compatibility issues and then try again.

I'm having the same issue with a Dell Precision 650 workstation. I can see the drive using the LSI SCSI adaptor utility, but XP doesn't see it during the OS install.
