No removable disc drive???

I tried to make a password reset disc. When I click on the icon I get: "Your computer does not have a removable disk drive. A removable medium is required to use this feature". So the CD/DVD/RW doesn't count?

3 day old machine has crashed 3 times, support tells me "not our problem, it is a software problem". Dell wants $99 to get software help. Probably cost about $215 to return the system.
Can anyone give me a hand?
Thanks

Hi. Sorry to sound rude, I'm, just frustrated after 3 days of fighting this.
The computer is a B110, the cd drive is Phillips DVD+-RW DVD8801.
It burns in a normal situation. So I know the drive is OK. It just seems as if it doesn't work in Windows I need some help.
Thanks

If you are using the built-in XP function to create a password reset disk,
it will only work with a floppy disk.  There is nothing wrong with your
computer, it is a Windows XP function.  For reference ...........

Thank you, I suspected as much, it just wasn't worth $99 to hear it from Dell.

Thanks again.

Don't be unhappy, it was cheap and it's a Dell.

I reccomend HP or Compaq or build it yourself like I do.

Goodluck
