Not enough disk space.....supposedly

I'm not sure if this is a hardware or software issue but here goes.

I have just bought a new dimension 9200 and I keep getting the following error message when I start AOL.

Not enough disk space
(01-00014)
The amount of available disk space is insufficient to complete the requested task.

When I scroll down the rest of the box it gives me 2 options to try to resolve the problem. Firstly to reset the graphic art allowance to 5mb in the AOL settings menu. It was already set to 60mb so I reduced it to 5mb and restarted AOL and reset the allowance but it didn't work. Secondly it said to try cleaning the hard drive, again tried that but it didn't work.

The box disappears after trying to click it off 5 or 6 times, after that AOL works normally. I have been in touch with AOL and they told me there was nothing wrong with AOL so it must be the computer. They could only suggest defragging, so I tried that, but to no avail.

I am running windows Vista Business 32 bit and the computer is only a few days old so it obviously has enough disk space. This message has been there from the first time I set up AOL. Any ideas on how to get rid of this annoying problem, thanks.

Thanks for replying. I have tried that one already but it still doesn't work. Like I say the computer is only days old and this message appeared the very first time I started AOL so there were no Temp files anyway. Do you know of anything else I can try?

kmackay4:

First, let me apologize on behalf of the forum members who apparently did not read your original post, where you explained that this is a brand new installation of AOL on a brand new machine.

What version of AOL did you install? Where did you install it from, a download or a CD? My first inclination is to tell you to uninstall it and try another version.

In the meantime, are you familiar with the procedure for getting your mail online without the AOL client software? Just go to http://www.aol.com/ and click on Mail, log in and you can still keep up until this issue is sorted out.

Dowloaded and ran CCleaner. Seems to have worked, thanks for the tip.
