Optiplex 390 - Advanced format hard drive ST500DM002
Hi everyone!
I have a Optiplex 390 SFF with Seagate Barracuda ST500DM002 (advanced format 512e) hard drive.
I re installed windows 7 x64 Professional and also updated all drivers from dell support page.
Include with Microsoft KB 982018 and the latest Seagate Barracuda ST500DM002 Firmware. As you can see on photo I have checked my drive with Paragon Aligment Tool but It does not work properly like with previous OS. It just looks like a "normal" HDD without AF support.
I have followed this tutorial step by step but I am not sure about some points.

Should I install Intel RST Storage driver 9.6? I tried but It just says not compatible. Intel H61 Express Chipset is not support Intel Rapid Storage Technology.
How can I check that the OS using properly my hard drive? Because performance issues.
Do I need to install everything else?
Thanks in advance!
Roland

Windows Vista, 7 and 8 fully support Advanced format drives - no action needed.
Only with XP and earlier is a utility required.

Thank you for your answer.
No, I am not.
I got a document with my OptiPlex and it says that if my computer contain 512e (Advanced Format) hard drive, further action required due to performance optimization.
Before I re installed the OS I also checked my HDD with Paragon Alignment tool and It was different than It's now.
Like on the picture. If you look at mine and this you can realize that this shows "AF Disk n" not only "Disk n"
Can you explain why?

An AF disk will behave exactly like a normal non-AF disk, except when there are alignment problems, but this shouldn´t happen in Windows 7. Are you experiencing any special problem?
