Optiplex GX: bootable from external/USB CD drive?

Hello,
Can an Optiplex GX series small-form factor desktop can boot from an external/USB CD-RW drive? If it cannot currently, what can be done about it? IS there some software that can make the BIOS/PC boot off of an external/USB optical disk drive?

The GX260, GX270, GX280 support this.

The GX, GXa, GX1, GXi, GX100,GX110,GX200, GX240,GX300,GX400 Do not and will not and NEVER will.

If you need an external bootable drive then you need an adaptec 2940 or 2940UW pci scsi and an external SCSI CDRROM drive.

Saying GX series is too broad. Its like saying Dell computer with INTEL processor.

Hello, is GX115 suppoused to boot from an external USB device too? I think that it can't do it, because I've tried it and it didn't work :smileysad:, but I have to answer.

Thanks!

No it does not.

This is not a feature that will be available.

It didnt show up until the GX60/260 series.

Its a Bios feature. There are no plans to "add" this feature.
