Optiplex hard disk drive 0 failure

Question

Please help!!  I have an Optiplex which gives this error 'Hard diskdrive 0 failure Strike the f1 key to continue, f2 to run the setup utility'   When I tak the drive out and put it in another similar system, it boots properly.  so the hard drive and ribbon is fine.  but when I put it back in its system, I get this error.  Is there a way to fix this?   otherwise, I updated the BIOs, and the floppy drive is fine.  it seems the hard drive controllers are faulty, if so is there a way to fix them?   thanks

All drives must be set for cable select

KayUG When you are in BIOS is the hd present at position 0? If so is it set to auto?
