You're confusing the data cables with the power cables. The cables from the SATA connections on the motherboard are for transferring data and only come in one size, although many lengths. The power cable comes from the power supply. If you don't already have an extra one sitting in there you'll need a Y connector to take power off an existing cable. Use the same size connector as the other drives have.
I have a similar issue, I have the XPS 600, it came with 1 maxtor SATA 250 HD, I am adding a second Maxtor SATA and have found data cable, "but" the power cable thats is left is a multi colored 5 wire cable and not the same as the one coming out of the master... If I was to go down to CompUSA and get a cable which one should I ask for???
