Paging file
Each time I start up the computer (Dimension 8200) I get an alert that either no paging file exists or is too small. I follow the directions to attempt to make the paging file larger, but nothing changes. Any suggestions?

Turq.
As you don't state the version of windows installed, but, as you have a D/8200 I'll assume it's XP therefore see if this is a help.
You can change the Virtual Memory settings by, Right Clicking My Computer > Select properties > Click Advanced Tab > Performance Click "Settings" > When Performance Options Window Opens > Select "Advanced" Tab > Virtual Memory Setting > Click on "Change" box.
You can either let the system manage virtual memory by clicking the 'System managed size' box, that is often
recomended, or make custom settings, by first checking to see how much memory your system has, then setting the virtual memory settings to a minimum of 1.5 times memory to a maximum of 3 times the memory.

Bev-
thanks for the advice and the ms article.
I do have XP with 512mb ram. i tried what the article (and you) said. That is I tried to have the computer select the 'system manage size' and i tried manual setting the size (768 to 1536mb). i restarted the computer each time, but get the same results - the 'loading personel settings' take 10-15 minutes and the 'currently allocated size is 256mb'. so somewhere i have a problem that the computer will not take modifications to the paging file size.

I am experiencing the exact same problem. I have found that Ctrl+alt+delete
will wake up your system while loading your personal settings.
Have you found a solution to the problem?

After seeing all the reports of this problem I begin to think it is a bug in windows.
