Problem installing Doom 3

I tried to install Doom 3 yesterday and I ran into a problem.  I got through the first disk okay then when I put in the second disk I could hear the cd drive working but it did not seem to be doing anything.  I left it for about 15 minutes and I came back and it still was not doing anything.  Then I tried the DVD rom to install and I got to the same place and it did the same thing.  My DVD player will play movies and the cd rom will read other disks.  I just got this computer yesterday so everything is new.

8400 Pentium 4 3.2 ghz

1 gb of ram

80 gb hard drive

256 6800 GTO graphics card

16X DVD-ROM and 48X CD-RW
