Problem swapping HDs in a GX260

I just bought a used GX260,2.0Ghz,Bios AO2,512 ram,Maxtor 40Gig Hd,OS w2k pro. Was acting a little strange so I decided to try a Maxtor 40Gig HD that I knew was stable. It is loaded with a complete stable updated 98SE. I swaped the HDs and booted. It boots to bios everytime. There is no selection for HD detect only Auto and off. I checked the boot seq. floppy Hd CD. Then I tried setting the HD to cable slect. Now it boots to F1, F2 option, I went tru Bios to make sure it s set up. Still boots to F1,F2 option. What am I doing wrong?

I have a lot of Optiplex systems which wind up giving me F1 F2 and when I press the F1 it goes ahead and boots the operating system (unlike the time when it says "no boot device"). Have you tried asking it to F1 and go ahead?

Hey, thanks for the suggestion. I believe I did try try both F1 and F2, but that was a week ago. I will try that as soon as I time this week. Thanks again.

Mombodog posted this reply to the same Q in the Bios forum: (Nascat) "I decided to try a Maxtor 40Gig HD that I knew was stable. Yes update to the latest bios version. Thanks and Kudos Mombodog
