Problem with DVD Drive

Question

hello I have a laptop XPS M170 and I a problem with my DVD drive NEC  ND-6650A. When I insert à CD-ROM or a DVD, the drive run, but in Windows it is not detected.   Could somebody help me?   Thank you very much

When you look in the Device Manager, is the drive there?  If so,right-click it and select Properties.  Is there an Error Code?
