Removing CD dirve for Dimension 3000
Hi. I have a Dimension 3000, and I am trying to replace a CD drive with a new DVD drive.
The problem is that I
cannot get the CD drive removed. The case
only opens one side and I was able to
remove one side's CD drive
screws. After that, I try to remove the CD drive, but I couldn't do it. It seems the other side of the CD drive has screws too (I am not sure). Is the other side has screws too?
If so, how can I open the other side of the case. I
don't know what type of screw driver to use for opening the ohter side of the case.

Hi Flower,
According to Dell, there is only one securing screw for the drive, the others are for alignment.
Please see this link:

You did remove the front panel, if so, you have to check the drive cage, may be out-of-line just a little?

Hi Flower,
Some of those hang on like a cat on a window screen!
From link I gave, you can scroll up to the instructions for removing the front panel, I believe you have a release lever, top and bottom tabs according to the pictures.

I cannot remove the front panel, I have pulled, pulled and pulled, but it is just very hard.
Is there easy way to open the front panel?

I got it opened!
